SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oil adsorbent particles which are characterised by that they contain: inorganic particles and a polymer which is formed on surfaces of inorganic particles or in between them. Content of inorganic particles ranges from at least 50 vol. % to at most 97 vol. % with respect to volume of inorganic particles and the polymer; and the surface area of the inorganic particles ranges from at least 30% to at most 60% with respect to the cross-section of inorganic particles and the polymer. The invention also relates to a method of producing said particles, which is characterised by that it includes steps of mixing inorganic particles, the polymer and a solvent to obtain a suspension solution; and spraying the suspension solution in an environment whose temperature is higher than the boiling point of the solvent by at least 30°C.

EFFECT: present invention is aimed at obtaining an oil adsorbent, having high capacity for adsorbing oil in water and high mechanical strength.
