FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: device includes an ultrasonic pulse converter of sound and electric signals, which operates according to the principle of action of a two-arm slide-wire that is made in the form of a hollow ring from dielectric material filled with non-conducting fluid like transformer oil. Ring has a cross cut, on the end faces of which piezoelectric elements connected to a signal control and processing unit are mounted. At that, a complete set of a flow metre includes two identical slide-wire elements that are rigidly fixed on upper inner surface of the pipe above the typical level of flowing medium. Distance between those devices is fixed. Both converters are functionally connected to the signal control and measurement unit. The device sends sounding pulses to flowing medium and receives reply signals as per the specified programme. Using the above signals, flow velocity and volume of medium flow rate, as well as other below parameters are defined by means of a calculation: thickness of deposits at the pipe bottom (and in a number of cases - flowing medium composition) and control of the pipeline filling degree.

EFFECT: improving measurement accuracy of different parameters of flowing media, as well as control of the technical state of the pipeline.
