FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises an ultrasonic rheochord to convert electric pulses into ultrasonic pulses and to receive backward ultrasonic signals and convert them into electric signals. The rheochord is made as a two-wall "rim" with its geometrical shape similar to that of a "bicycle wheel". The "rim" is fixed on the pipeline surface as a ring. The rheochord comprises a system of piezoelectrical plates set along the whole pipeline perimeter as a girdle. The whole system of piezoelectrical cells sends ultrasonic pulses to the pipe and gets backward ultrasonic signals which are converted into electrical signals in the rheochord. Processing of these signals in the electronic unit provides the data on the accuracy and speed of medium flow in the pipeline.
EFFECT: improvement of speed measurement accuracy for liquid and gaseous flows in pipelines, design simplification and functionality enhancement.
