FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing sevoflurane-[2-(fluoromethoxy)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropane], which is an inhaled anesthetic and which, due to high efficiency and low toxicity, is widely used in surgery. The method involves reaction of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol-2 with trioxane or formaldehyde in the presence of a chlorinating agent - chlorosulphonic acid, followed by separation of the formed 2-(chloromethoxy)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropane (sevoflurane), treatment thereof with anhydrous potassium fluoride at temperature of 100-200°C in the presence of an activator selected from a group comprising tetrakis(dialkylamino)phosphonium halides, substituted guanidine halides or mixtures thereof, taken in amount of 0.05-10.0 mol % with respect to the potassium fluoride used.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain an end product with high degree of purity and high output using an improved technique.
