FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in order to detect a point thermal object in complex background conditions, the invention proposes to use threshold and spatial processing of received signals, which increases the signal to background ratio and, as a result, the probability of detecting a point thermal object in the field of view of an optoelectronic system. The performance capability of the method is confirmed by results of mathematical modelling using models of radiation of aerial targets and a background in night sky conditions.
EFFECT: simple process by which an operator can make a decision on the presence of images of point thermal objects on the monitor of a video monitoring device of an optoelectronic system and spatial position thereof in conditions where there marks from local objects.
