FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: in a control device and a control method of a rotary electric machine a control facility (5) for release of a voltage control command for control of excitation of a rotary electric machine (1) sums a command of voltage control of position assessment, which is generated in a generator (12) of position assessment voltage and is used to assess rotor position, with a command of excitation voltage control in summators (23u-23w) and releases as a command of voltage control. A position assessment facility (4) comprises: modules (6u-6w) of current extraction for extraction of position assessment current, having a frequency component identical to a frequency component of a position assessment voltage control command, from current of the rotary electric machine, detected with a facility (2) of current detection; a module (7) for calculation of amplitudes of position assessment current for calculation of position assessment current amplitude from the position assessment current; and a module (8) for calculation of the assessed position for calculation of the assessed position of the rotary electric machine (1) on the basis of position assessment current amplitude. The module (7) for calculation of position assessment current amplitude calculates amplitude of position assessment current on the basis of autocorrelation value produced by means of squaring of the position assessment current.

EFFECT: possibility to control asynchronous and synchronous machines in absence of a rotation position sensor.
