FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: surface of a component is coated with a coating which contains, wt %: titanium diboride - 20-25, boron carbide - 40-60, sodium fluoride - 3-7, ammonium chloride - 5-7, borax - 3-8, iron borides - 8-20, which is pre-diluted in water to a paste-like state. The coated component is then dried to obtain a solid crust and then heated in a heating furnace to 850-1150°C and maintaining said temperature for 0.5-3.5 hours. The component is then quenched, followed by low-temperature tempering at 180-200°C for 2 hours.

EFFECT: improved hardness, processability and energy efficiency of the process.
