FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: at tests of an expandable nozzle of the rocket engine in a low-pressure chamber with a gas dynamic pipe, a nozzle head is retracted to the gas flow after the engine is switched over to the mode. Then, in the pressure decrease mode in the combustion chamber, the head is changed over from the gas flow to the initial position. The other invention refers to a stand expandable nozzle of the rocket engine, which contains a fixed housing, a retractable head and a locking device of the head in the retracted position of paddle type. On the fixed housing there installed is a hydraulic cylinder and a guide device, and paddles of the locking device are equipped with eyes, through which a rope is passed. The rope ends pass through the guide device and are connected to the hydraulic cylinder stock.

EFFECT: inventions allow improving the test reliability owing to protecting the nozzle head against damage during the test.
