FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises proportioning siderite stock, solid fuel, binder and fluxing additives, mixing and pelletizing obtained blend, drying and thermal treatment of pellets in furnace with rotary hearth, cooling, crushing and separating granular iron from slag. Thermal treatment of said pellets is performed in two steps at 560-570°C and 1350-1450°C, respectively. Note here that duration of the first step makes 10-20% of total duration of thermal treatment.
EFFECT: higher efficiency, reduced losses of iron and lower power consumption.
