SUBSTANCE: on a radar station for determining the time for issuing commands to launch a defence weapon: a continuous signal fo is generated, having frequency modulation on a one-sided saw-tooth linearly rising or falling law; said signal is emitted from two points in space and twice converted to a signal with differential frequency 3F =6Vofo/C, where C is the speed of light, Vo is the radial speed of the defence weapon, if the dimensions of the target are smaller than the distance between points of emission of electromagnetic energy. The apparatus for selecting small-size targets has a radar station for determining the time for issuing commands for launching a defence weapon and a second transmitting antenna whose input is connected to the high-power output of a transmitter of the continuous signal with frequency modulation on a one-sided saw-tooth linearly rising law.

EFFECT: wider variety of devices for selecting targets for systems for proactive defence of objects.
