FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining concentration of nitrate compounds in atmospheric air involves measuring concentration of nitrogen-containing compounds in atmospheric air at a given point, calculating on that basis concentration of nitrate compounds using a certain relationship based on graphs plotted beforehand. First, concentration of nitrogen dioxide at a given point is determined and concentration of nitrate compounds is then calculated using the relationship: where: C(NO2) is the measured concentration of nitrogen dioxide, mg/m3; kα is the solar declination influence coefficient; kcl is the total cloud cover influence coefficient. The solar declination influence coefficient (kα) is determined based on the degree of transformation of nitrogen dioxide in different periods of the year, and the total cloud cover influence coefficient (kcl) is determined depending on total cloud cover.

EFFECT: easier and more accurate determination of concentration of nitrate compounds in atmospheric air.
