SAFETY SYSTEM OF ATHLETE Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A41D13/00

Abstract RU 2486851 C1

FIELD: sport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to universal technical means to provide a comprehensive safety system in high-injury sports, such as, for example downhill skiing, diving, parachuting (ground training), figure skating, as well as traumatic kinds of art such as in the circus. The safety system of an athlete comprises an executive part located on human body of the person with shock-damping elements for protection against injury and a control system actuating the executive part in the critical fall. What is new is that the control system is made automatic on the basis of radio navigation means, both external and partially located on the human body, and comprises placed on the athlete body elements for determining the relative position of human body parts, extremities, torso, and for continuous monitoring of the position of the athlete in three-dimensional space. These elements can be used as resonant reflectors of radio waves with resonances at different frequencies, or miniature active responders for probing radio signals, or radio beacons emitting signals at different frequencies or in different shapes, fixed on the athlete body preferably at each large joint or near it. The external means of radio navigation relate to the system of active and passive radars, comprising at least four receiving antennas 1, 2, 3 and 4 which are not all located in one plane. The receiving antennas are connected to the receiving devices 5, 6, 7, 8, each of which comprises channels corresponding to the frequencies of resonances of reflectors or signals emitted by the active responders or radio beacons. The outputs of the channels of the receiving devices are connected to the computer 9 performing signal processing and determination of three-dimensional coordinates of each reflector, an active responder or a radio beacon. The computer 9 is connected to the generator of control signals 10 having its transmitting antenna to transmit the control signals from the computer 9 through the receiver 12 to the executive part 13 with the shock-damping elements corresponding to the sport. The system additionally comprises a generator of probing signals 14.

EFFECT: creation of a universal safety system of an athlete, the automatic triggering of the system and improvement of the effectiveness of the protective function of hitting on a hard surface or water.
