FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of hot metal or liquid steel semis from iron ore and additives loaded into reducing plant 1 for reduction and, further, into smelting plant, particularly, into smelting gas generator for smelting at addition of carbon-bearing initial materials and oxygen-bearing gas to form steady-state bed. Formed CO- and H₂-bearing reducing gas is fed into reduction region to it to be converted and discharged as top smoke. In compliance with this invention, hot top smoke saturated with solid phase is subjected, in sedimentation of solid phase, to dry dust separation, particular, to coarse separation, to return, at least, portion of separated hot solid substances into smelting region or into reduction region or into smelting plant. Top smoke after dry coarse separation is subjected to, at least, one extra stage of fine separation at, at least, partial separation of solid substances remained in top smoke and to be returned into smelting plant and/or smelting region.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of using discharged process gases.
