FIELD: methods of production of liquid iron or liquid steel semiproducts from fine-grained iron-containing material, particularly, from reduced sponge iron. SUBSTANCE: method is realized in zone of melting gasifying in which iron-containing material is melted with supply of carbon-containing material and oxygen-containing gas, and simultaneous formation of reducing gas in layer formed from solid carbon carriers. In case of necessity, this is effected after preliminary final reduction. To prevent carry-over of fine particles of iron-containing material loaded into melting gasifier, iron-containing material is supplied to melting gasifier with the help of oxygen burner to form high-temperature combustion zone centrally above layer but in the immediate vicinity of it.
