FIELD: biotechnologies.

SUBSTANCE: invention describes the method to detect antibacterial potential of chitosan in respect to staphylococci by assessment of activation of fermentative destruction of bacteria cells by chitosan polymer, when to the suspension of inactivated cells of staphylococcus in the buffer solution they add the aliquot of the investigated chitosan sample in the form of a solution, then the aliquot of lysostaphin is added in the form of a solution, and the mixture is incubated at 37°C, afterwards lysis of bacteria cells is defined by reduction of optical density of the mixture.

EFFECT: method provides for quick detection of antibacterial potential of chitosan in respect to staphylococci, absence of necessity to use live culture of bacteria and low consumption of an investigated substance.
