FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: multichannel gas electron multiplier has two identical parallel flat metal electrodes with a gap in between that is filled with a gas, with holes arranged uniformly on the entire area of each electrode, and having dimensions that are close to the size of the gap between the electrodes, wherein each hole of one electrode lies opposite a corresponding hole of the other electrode, the device being characterised by that each electrode is made from a metal sheet with thickness smaller than the size of the gap between the electrodes, and having circular or rectangular holes, with distance between centres of neighbouring holes equal to 1.2-1.5 times the size of the hole.

EFFECT: high reliability and stability of operation of the multiplier in high mechanical noise conditions.
