FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for radar probing of an underlying surface, which involves generating probing pulses using a gas discharger or a solid-state generator, radiation of said pulses with a transmitting antenna, detecting reflected waves by a receiving antenna, followed by processing. The digital waveform of the signal is obtained using high-bit and high-speed analogue-to-digital converters (ADC) and recording the full-wave form of the detected signal, which is presented in form of a sequence of waveforms of the signal in three-dimensional form - "amplitude - delay time - profile length" with coordinate tying of the location. Digitisation is carried out over one radiated pulse of the transmitter. An apparatus for realising said method is also disclosed, the apparatus including a timer, a voltage converter, a probing signal generator, a transmitting antenna and a receiving unit.
EFFECT: high accuracy of obtained data.
