SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a vacuum degassing apparatus, an apparatus and a method of making glass articles. The vacuum degassing apparatus has a vacuum degassing chamber, an ascending pipe and a descending pipe, both connected to the vacuum degassing chamber. The vacuum degassing chamber has a wide portion for creating a channel for molten glass, and in the wide portion the ratio W1/L1 of the width W1 of the channel for molten glass to the length L1 of the channel for molten glass is at least 0.2; in the vacuum degassing chamber, the width W2 of the channel for molten glass in the portion connected to the ascending pipe and the width W3 of the channel for molten glass in the portion connected to the descending pipe are less than the width W1 of the channel for molten glass in the wide portion. The position of the bottom of the channel for molten glass in the portion connected to the ascending pipe, and the position of the bottom of the channel for molten glass in the portion connected to the descending pipe is lower than the position of the bottom of the channel for molten glass in the wide portion.

EFFECT: improved degree of clarification and homogeneity of glass.
