FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an apparatus and a method for vacuum degassing molten glass. A vacuum degassing vessel includes a wall bottom part, a side wall part and a top part which form a molten glass accommodating part and an upper space composed of a combination of a plurality of dome-shaped refractory materials. The dome-shaped refractory materials are arranged such that the lower part of the surface of the dome-shaped refractory facing the inner part of the vacuum degassing vessel lies closer to the outer part than the position of the surface of column-shaped refractory in contact with molten glass. A molten glass storage part is formed between the upper surface of the column-shaped refractory and the bottom part of the dome-shaped refractory located on the column-shaped refractory.
EFFECT: facilitating vacuum degassing of glass to increase homogeneity of molten glass.
