METHOD FOR DETERMINING CEREBRAL STRUCTURE MATURITY IN PREMATURE NEWBORNS Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61B5/55

Abstract RU 2491888 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely neonatology. Performing cerebral magnetic resonance tomography, analysing T1 and T2 suspended images and assessing myelinisation of the cerebral structures are involves. The premature newborn's age is correlated with the full-term newborn's post-conceptual age. If observing the primary myelinisation of: vermis cerebelli, crus cerebelli, crus cerebri, truncus cerebri, vestibular nuclei, thalamus nuclei, a severe delay of the cerebral maturity is diagnosed. A moderate delay is shown by the primary myelinisation within radiate crown additionally. A normal cerebral maturity is shown by observing the myelinisation, including within a posterior limb of internal capsule. The 6-month-old child shall be re-examined, and if observing the additional myelinisation within an anterior internal capsule, a proper level of the cerebral structures maturity is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables higher information accessibility of determining the maturity of the cerebral structures in the premature newborns that is ensured by simplifying the method for examination.
