FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, particularly, to diagnostics of rolling stock brake conduit at trains or checkup inspection stations. In compliance with the first version, testing the rolling stock comprises braking the train front and train rear to define the time of brake wave passage from front to rear and from rear to front. In spontaneous operation of brakes time intervals of passage of brake wave at front and rear are recorded. On the basis of obtained values number of the car with spontaneous brake operation is defined. In compliance with the second version, the method consists in sampling, from the base of experimental data, the brake wave propagation velocities from front and rear and from rear to front, most statistically closest for this train under diagnostics. In spontaneous operation of brakes time intervals of passage of brake wave at train front and rear are recorded to calculate intervals between brake wave registration moments. On the basis of obtained values number of the car with spontaneous brake operation is defined.

EFFECT: comprehensive diagnostics, accurate detection of spontaneous operation point.
