Module for determining speed setting vref for vehicle control system comprises reference speed input unit vset, unit for horizon location via received positioning data and route cartographic data, processor to compute vref so that vref varies in the range limited by Vmin and vmax, where vmin<vset<vmax. Besides, said processor to define control signal with control parameters for vehicle automatic gear shifting control unit on the basis of one or several magnitudes specific for particular vehicle and computed speed setting vref over the entire future horizon.
