FIELD: motor industry.
SUBSTANCE: at the first stage only a bumper of a protective device is installed on a car (without a body and an elastic hysteresis element) with an acceleration sensor and a displacement sensor fixed inside the bumper box, on its inner wall, in its middle cross section, in driver and passenger seats their weight simulators are fastened with safety belts, and the crash test is carried out. On the basis of sensor readings and filming, a reference characteristic of a car is built in the form of a curve P(y), where P - current value of impact force, defined in accordance with the acceleration sensor readings, and y - current value of car deformation defined according to readings of the displacement sensor, installed on the front bumper, which is then used to calculate parameters of the bumper protective device and energy it scattered during attack. Then the second stage of the crash-test is performed, for this purpose on the other car of the same brand and the same version a fully mounted bumper protective device is installed, the car is fully prepared for crash-testing according to the standard EURO-NCAP or NCAP - dummies are fixed on the seats, as well as all required acceleration sensors, crash-tests are performed, and car safety is evaluated in points or number of stars.
