SUBSTANCE: electronic book has a housing; an electronic touch screen display; one or more pen holders on the housing; a keyboard cable socket for receiving a keyboard cable connector; a tangible machine-readable data medium in the housing with files for displaying text on the display in a natural format; a processor configured to selectively display on the display a list of headers stored on the medium, command input elements for supporting communication with other electronic books and a keyboard image for providing input into the processor using the display, wherein communication with other electronic books is supported for sharing electronic book files with another electronic book; and a processor configured to select a first electronic book file on the medium in a format other than the natural format, and automatically, without user interference, when the first file is selected by the user, reformat that file to a natural format and then display the first electronic book file.
EFFECT: providing automatic reformatting of an electronic book file into a natural format used by the book without user interference, establishing and supporting communication of an electronic book with other electronic books in order to transfer and share electronic book files.
