SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to methods and compositions effective for enhancing the absorption and/or transport of peptides, peptide mimetics and other substrates of gastrointestinal transport protein through gastrointestinal transport proteins. The methods involve using hormones, e.g. 5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamine (melatonin) for increasing the transport of peptides, peptide mimetics and substrates. The compositions contain one or more hormones, particularly melatonin and one or more peptides, peptide mimetics and other substrate of gastrointestinal transport protein.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides enhancing, improving and increasing the absorption, transport, sorption and/or assimilation of peptides, peptide mimetics and/or other substrates of gastrointestinal transport protein in animals.
