FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural materials operating in conditions of high thermal load and in an oxidative medium, which can be used in chemical, petrochemical and metallurgical industry, as well as in aircraft engineering. A workpiece is made from porous graphitised carbon material, heated in the closed volume of a reactor in vapour of a siliconising agent to 1700-1850°C, held in said temperature interval for 1-3 hours and then cooled. Heating to 1500-1550°C is carried out in a vacuum in a mixture of vapours of silicon and silicon monoxide, which is obtained in said reactor from chemical reaction of quartz and silicon. Heating to 1550°C is carried out in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere in silicon vapour with traces of silicon monoxide. When heating to 1700-1850°C, isothermic ageing is carried out at temperature of 1200-1550°C for 60-120 minutes. Isothermic ageing at temperature of 1200-1550°C is alternated with cooling by 200-300°C from the isothermic ageing temperature.
EFFECT: high degree and uniformity of siliconising components made from graphitised materials without reducing their strength.
