FIELD: automotive industry. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for conversion of vehicle exhaust gases. Proposed honeycomb member has gas through channels whose shape of inner cross-section and number depends on specific area of geometric surface of honeycomb member and which, at least partially, are separated from each other by partitions whose material and thickness define heat capacity related to are unit of said geometric surface. Honeycomb member as adsorbing material to entrap hydrocarbons. Special area of geometric surface divided by heat capacity related to unit of surface area measured at room temperature and without adsorbing material and any other possible coating is greater than or equal to 37/5 m K/J. Honeycomb member can be additionally furnished with catalytically active coating with oxidizing action. Honeycomb member is preferably made up of metal sheets stacked into pack or coiled, with thickness not exceeding 40 mcm, with more than 450 channels per sq inch of its cross-section area. In process of conversion of vehicle exhaust gases such parameters of HC trap make it possible to reduce discharge of toxic matter when starting engine from cold. EFFECT: improved cleaning of exhaust gases. 5 cl, 1 dwg
