FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: aerosol particles are deposited on the surface of a substrate. The surface with the deposited sample is irradiated with a light source. Fluorescence and phosphorescence of the sample are then detected at multiple wavelengths while picking up the phosphorescence signal with time delay between excitation and reception of the emission signal. Biological particles are determined from the ratio of the fluorescence and phosphorescence signals. During deposition, concentration of aerosol particles on the surface of the substrate is controlled based on the scattering signal level of the surface of the substrate with particles, which is compared with a given threshold of the scattering level, determined based on resolution of the optical signal detecting system which is taken as equivalent to the maximum dimension of the detected particles. Upon achieving the given level of scattering, particle deposition is stopped and fluorescence and phosphorescence of each particle is detected separately.
EFFECT: method increases selectivity of analysing hazardous particles of a biological aerosol in the presence of non-biological particles.
