FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for welding and building up of metals using plasma, constricted arc and arc of consumable electrode. Plasmatron is arranged at weld joint start to feed water in plasmatron cooling systems and plasma-forming and protective gases via channels 9, 10. Power supply 12 is cut in to switch on oscillator 13 for short-term. Constricted arc 7 is initiated between starting nonconsumable electrode 5 and article 4. Arc 7 is then sustained by welding current source 12. Power supply 11 is cut on to initiate constricted arc 3 between ring electrode 2 and article 4. Thus, two aligned constricted arcs 3 and 7 are initiated. Then, consumable electrode 8 is fed to displace plasmatron along the surface of welded article 4. With consumable electrode 8 getting out from axial hole 6 arc 14 is spontaneously initiated from electrode 8 to article 4 while constricted arc 7 is quenched. Here, starting nonconsumable electrode 5 doubles as a current feed for consumable electrode 8.
EFFECT: simplified design, longer life, higher quality of weld joint.
