FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing 2-amino-5-cyanobenzoic acid derivatives of formula (1) , where R1 is NHR3; R2 is CH3 or Cl; and R3 is H, C1-C4alkyl, cyclopropyl, cyclopropyl-cyclopropyl, cyclopropylmethyl or methylcyclopropyl; which involves bringing into contact (1) a compound of formula 2 , where X is Br or Cl; with (2) metal cyanide-based reagent which contains one or more compounds selected from a group consisting of an alkali metal cyanide and copper (I) cyanide, (3) a copper (I) salt-based reagent, (4) a hydroiodic acid salt-based reagent and (5) at least one compound of formula 3 , where R5 is H, phenyl or benzyl; or C1-C12alkyl, optionally substituted with NR9R10; each R6, R7 and R8 is independently H, C1-C12 alkyl, phenyl or benzyl; or R6 and R7 together form -CH=CH-CH=CH-; and R9 and R10 together form -CH=N-CH=CH-, optionally having up to 3 substitutes independently selected from C1-C12alkyl; under the condition that when X is Cl, R2 is methyl.

EFFECT: novel method of producing 2-amino-5-cyanobenzoic acid derivatives, characterised by high speed and cost effectiveness.
