FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is proposed to clean lead coolant of a power reactor with a reactor core in the form of a molten salt. Lead discharged from the nuclear reactor coolant circuit and contaminated with radionuclides of fission (isotopes of niobium, molybdenum, technetium, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium and silver) is exposed to double electrolytical cleaning with application of a bipolar lead electrode and electrolyte (sodium chloride - lead chloride with molar ratio of 1:2) at the temperature of 460-470°C with anode density of current that does not exceed 0.2 A/cm2.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to clean lead from admixtures soluble in it and from insoluble sludges without a preliminary operation of filtration.
