FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: core, reflector and blanket comprise a two-phase metal system: Pb-Pu-U, or Pb-U-Th, or Pb-Pu-U-Th This enables to achieve higher burn-up of fuel which is primarily in solid phase owing to elimination of radiation damages through periodic melting and subsequent formation of the core from the melt. The invention enables to exclude from the reactor core, which is subject to intense neutron irradiation, structural components, leaving only a primary circuit heat exchanger, which is static equipment, wherein mechanically loaded components of the heat exchanger are located outside the irradiation area. Being a removable component, the heat exchanger does not limit the service life of the nuclear reactor overall. The invention enables to create a self-controlled core wherein heat liberation of the fission chain reaction will balance heat removal in the primary circuit heat exchanger due to a natural physical mechanism. Faster over-speed protection on instantaneous neutrons is provided at the same time.
EFFECT: improved reactor characteristics.
