FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes the following steps: (1) forming a polymerisation system and (2) polymerising the polymerisation system obtained at step (1) to obtain homopolymers of monomer isoolefins or copolymers of monomer isoolefins and optionally copolymerisable monomers. The polymerisation system includes the following components: an initiation system consisting of an initiator, additives, Lewis acids and an optional diluent, said additives being selected from at least one organic compound containing a nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur or phosphorus atom; an aqueous reaction medium containing 3.5-100 vol. % water; monomer isoolefins and optional copolymerisable monomers and an optional dispersant. The present invention provides a cheap and easy to implement method.
EFFECT: aqueous reaction medium provides a better dispersion system and high efficiency of heat transfer during polymerisation.
