FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used in drum-shoe brakes in whatever machines as well as in band-shoe brakes of drill winches. Proposed method consists in that relationship between matte surface radiation factors and those of polished metal friction surfaces at intensive radiation power exchange with ambient medium circumambient currents equals that of cooled areas and heat exchange surfaces heated thereby.
EFFECT: determination of heated-to-cooled surface ratio depending of their materials and degree of blackness of the surfaces given the operation of brakes at surface temperature lower than permissible for lining materials.
