SUBSTANCE: method of selecting a server responding to a service request from a mobile device involves: generating a DNS request containing a URI for identifying a service requested by a mobile device and, in addition to the URI of the requested service, an indicator of the location of the mobile device; including a key word into the DNS request which indicates that the DNS request relates to a service for which service transfer is possible; sending said DNS request to a DNS server; determining the most suitable server to respond to said service request, performed by the DNS server, wherein said determination is based on the location of the mobile device indicated by the location indicator added to the URI; returning the address of the server determined based on the location to the mobile device.
EFFECT: enabling selection of the closest server, which improves quality of connection.
