FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: high-frequency acousto-optical X-ray modulator consists of a piezoelectric substrate on which is formed a converter for converting a high-frequency electrical signal to an ultrasonic wave, mounted on a holder which enables to mount the entire device at its place of use and provided with a terminal pad for connecting a high-frequency electrical signal source. The device has a second converter for converting a high-frequency electric signal to an ultrasonic wave, wherein the converters are formed such that ultrasonic waves can be emitted in opposite directions and lie at a distance which enables to achieve maximum amplitude of the ultrasonic wave in the space between the converters, and the piezoelectric substrate is made of material which provides maximum efficiency of Bragg diffraction of X-rays and having thermal stability of acoustic properties which provides a constant propagation speed of acoustic waves in the material at high substrate temperature caused by X-ray absorption, as well as radiation resistance and has area of not less than 1 cm2.
EFFECT: enabling interaction of X-rays with the analysed object at certain moments in time.
