FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: insert comprises two opposite end surfaces, peripheral side surface extending there between, multiple cutting edges formed at intersection between one end surface and peripheral side surface. Note here that said cutting edges are located in symmetry about axis extending through said two end surfaces. Note here that insert comprises rake face extending along cutting edge at one end surface with positive face angle and first and second areas ordered in direction of increasing distance from cutting edge. Rake angle in second area is larger than that in first area. Wall upgoing surface extends at one end surface to make a recess along cutting edge with rake face and is configured to be divided into two areas by extension surface formed for extension of first area on the plane formed perpendicular to cutting edge. Wall upgoing surface comprises first and second upgoing surfaces ordered continuously in direction of increasing distance from cutting edge. Note here that inclination of second upgoing surface differs from that of the first one. Note also that the plane crossing the cutting edge perpendicular to the axis cross the first upgoing surface.
EFFECT: higher durability of insert.
