SUBSTANCE: set of invention relates to method and system for automatic speed control. Proposed method of control consists in defining the starting and destination points, selecting the traffic road, defining the desirable travel time, computing and setting of limiting magnitudes of automatic speed maintenance system. Said computing and setting of limiting magnitudes of automatic speed maintenance system is performed another time in case unexpected event occurs to affect average speed. Gearshift pattern is selected to allow optimumised fuel consumption. Proposed system comprises control unit to adjust vehicle speed, route indicator and driver interface. Control unit allows fulfilling the jobs of abode described method.
