SUBSTANCE: method of arranging elements in a thinned phased antenna array, wherein on a regular array of nodes, elements are arranged by a two-dimensional difference set technique, characterised by that the phased antenna array is formed from a set of sub-arrays, each consisting of (φ(m)-1 elements, where the numerical magnitude m assumes values pα, 2pα, where α is a natural series number, p is a prime number, (φ(m) is a Euler function, and the maximum number of sub-arrays is equal to φ(φ(m)) - the number of primitive roots of the number m. Each of the (φ(m)-1 elements of said sub-array is arranged in array nodes, one on each column and not more than one on each row such that for the j-th element, the row number k is defined from a given column number j according to the rule: k=(gl)jmodm, where gl is the first primitive root of the number m, l assumes values from 1 to a value equal to the number of primitive roots of the magnitude m: φ(φ(m)), the column number j varies from 1 to φ(m)-1, the row number k varies from 1 to m, assuming all values except multiples of m.
