FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: insert is to be fitted in cutting tool body and has base shaped to parallelogram and confined by end surfaces and side surfaces including two pairs of opposed side surfaces intersecting base angles, major and minor cutting edges arranged at the angle to said base. One of said end surfaces has a ledge located along two adjacent side surfaces to make the angler aligned with one of base angles. Note here that said major and minor cutting edges are located at intersection of the ledge end surface with said adjacent side surfaces. Ledge surfaces opposite said adjacent side surfaces are designed to interact with cutting tool body seat side bearing walls. Note here that two holes to receive fasteners are made at the base and shifted from base mirror center to ledge angle and therefrom in opposite direction. Cutting tool has body with at least one seat for insert to be clamped thereat. Note here that said seat is composed of a slot arranged along cutting tool reference plane. Slot wall sidewall, closest to reference plane, serves to interact with insert base. Bearing sidewalls are made at body ledge confining said lot on side opposite reference plane to interact with insert side bearing surfaces as well as threaded holes to receive fasteners to interact with sidewalls of holes at insert base.
EFFECT: increased feed and cutting depth.
