FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal cutting, particularly, to composite metal cutting tools with mechanical fastening to tool tips. Tool tip has base confined by opposed end surface shaped to polygon with two parallel sides and side surface including two parallel side face, two parallel cutting edges, two major and two minor cutting edges connected at vertices of said polygon. Every end surface has ledge arranged along adjacent side faces to make the angle aligned with one of polygon angles. Major and minor cutting edges are made at intersection of ledge end surfaces with adjacent side faces of lateral surface. Note here that major cutting wedges at said parallel side faces of side surface. Minor cutting edges are located at one side face adjacent to said two parallel side faces of side surface. Proposed tool comprises body with tool tip seat to clap it thereat. Note here that said seat is shaped to a slit arranged along major surface of cutting tool. Slit side wall nearby main plane serves to interact with tool pit base under its working ledge. Aforesaid body ledge opposed the main plane has side thrust wall to interact with working ledge side surfaces.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cutting owing to higher hardness of cutting wedge.
