FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method includes testing of facilities before their resource has been exhausted at working modes of operation with determination of time to failure. At least two facilities are tested, failure of the first facility is expected, and the time of its failure is recorded, the time to failure is recorded for remaining tested facilities at the moment of failure of the first facility. On the basis of the sample for tested facilities with appropriate times to failure they form a statistical series sorted in ascending order according to the time to failure. On the basis of the formed statistical series they determine accumulated breakdown rates, then a distribution function is chosen, values of its parameters are determined, and gamma percentage indices are calculated for the operation time, and on their basis they define the remaining life. Besides, the remaining life is determined during failure of each subsequent facility to increase accuracy of determination of the remaining life.

EFFECT: determination of remaining life of newly developed and operated technical facilities without analogues, with limited scope of their tests.
