FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to casting of return bands using electroslag process. Return bend us produced by electroslag remelting of hollow consumable electrode, its diameter complying with that of return bend. Electroslag metal is accumulated in circular space between composite inner and outer casting moulds. Return bend is made in several steps each including installation of the next section of composite outer mould after filling said circular space between inner mould and previous section of composite outer mould. Moulds after installation of the next section are displaced towards each other. Note here that inner mould is displaced vertically upward inside hollow consumable electrode while outer mould is downed in preset radius of return bend downward to contact of liquid metal with next section edges.

EFFECT: return bends of whatever thickness from high-bondability metal.
