SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a cellular communication network which allows simultaneous use of frequencies with multiple carriers including a fundamental carrier frequency and at least an additional carrier frequency. The method employs measurements of downlink quality at the fundamental carrier frequency and at least an additional carrier frequency. The measurements of downlink quality at the fundamental carrier frequency and at least an additional carrier frequency are combined to determine a combined quality indicator. Further, it is determined whether the combined quality indicator satisfies a preset condition and an event is initiated only if the combined quality indicator satisfies the preset condition.
