FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: individual is challenged to perform a dead load test at 75% adequate maximum oxygen consumption and presented with a sequence of paired light pulses separated by an initial inter-pulse period and repeated after a regular interval of time. A threshold inter-pulse period is determined occasionally, wherein two pulses in a pair are fused in one; at the same time, heart rate is measured. The derived threshold inter-pulse periods and heart rates are used to plot flow charts of 'threshold inter-pulse period - test time' and 'heart rate - test time'. The testing procedure is performed until the threshold inter-pulse plateau period is produced on the chart. The testing procedure is repeated after the load rest increased by 50 Wt until the threshold inter-pulse period chart has a descending trend. A running load of heart rate is specified according to the previous threshold inter-pulse plateau period chart.

EFFECT: method enables specifying the optimal individual running load for exercise tolerance development.
