FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves placing on a substrate an energy source capable of supplying electric current to a component placed in the immediate vicinity of the first part of a casting mould, wherein the substrate contains a rigid insert, having a plurality of unlike areas, fixing the energy source on the insert with the substrate, placing a monomer reaction mixture in the first part of the casting mould, positioning the energy source into contact with the monomer reaction mixture, positioning the first part of the casting mould in the immediate vicinity of the second part of the mould, thereby forming a lens cavity with the energy source, capable of supplying electric current to the component, and a certain amount of the monomer reaction mixture in the lens cavity, and exposing the monomer reaction mixture to actinic radiation.
EFFECT: invention enables to form ophthalmic lenses which are provided with energy for controlled variation of optical characteristics of the lens.
