FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of making an ophthalmic lens involves arranging an insert substrate, having an energy source and an installed component powered by the energy source and attached to the insert substrate in the immediate vicinity of the first part of a casting mould. The insert substrate is formed on a flexible base. A monomer reaction mixture is placed in the first part of the casting mould. The insert substrate is then brought into contact with the monomer reaction mixture. The first part of the casting mould is placed in the immediate vicinity of the second part of the casting mould, thereby forming a lens cavity with the insert substrate, the energy source and the component and at least a part of the monomer reaction mixture in the lens cavity. The monomer reaction mixture is then exposed to actinic radiation.
EFFECT: broader functionality of ophthalmic lenses and providing controlled variation of optical characteristics of the ophthalmic lens.
