FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of measurement equipment and may be used to determine azimuth of direction from the specified point, called the source point, towards Mecca. The device to determine azimuthal direction to Mecca comprises a system for determination of coordinates of a base point and direction towards the base point, and also from the systems of determination of geographical coordinates of the initial point and the target point (Mecca). The device comprises a processor to calculate the angle of azimuth. The device is made in the form of a prayer's mat and represents a set of flat solar batteries and a liquid crystal display, the brightness of the screen of which or its colour change depending on orientation of the unfolded prayer's met relative to the sides of the horizon and direction towards Mecca. Geographical coordinates of the Mecca are built into the processor's memory. To determine geographical coordinates of the place of the prayer, a system of coordinates determination is built into the prayer's mat. At the same time the mat is equipped with the system to determine direction towards the Northern magnetic pole, the coordinates of which are also built into the processor's memory. Marks are applied on the prayer's mat to determine the position of the mat relative to the sides of the horizon. Such mark may be any of the edges of the prayer's mat itself.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of direction determination.
