FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: initial material is molten by heating with the help of at least one burner provided with a fuel and an oxidiser. Furnace waste gas temperature control is performed in a waste gas pipeline at least at one measurement point downstream of an afterburning zone. Rated fuel consumption and rated oxidiser consumption is supplied to the burner in a standard working mode. Waste gas temperature variations are recorded at the specified time intervals and compared to the specified limit value. At variation of waste gas temperature per unit of time, which is higher than the limit value, the burner for the specified period of validity of reduced power operating conditions, under which the ratio of fuel consumption and oxidiser consumption is reduced at least by means of one of the following measures: a) the specified stepwise reduction of fuel consumption to the reduced consumption, and b) the specified stepwise increase in oxidiser consumption to the increased consumption. When reduction time is elapsed, the standard working mode is regained.
EFFECT: reducing the need for used energy.
