SUBSTANCE: disclosed are methods which enable users to remotely collaborate on documents using corresponding browsers. These methods involve sending representations of fragments of the document to browsers and associating fragments of the document with specific users. Browsers can receive representations of commands provided by users and can determine whether to execute the commands on the browser. The methods can also include receiving from the browsers revisions of fragments of the document and storing said fragments of the document in storage regions adapted to store content that was altered relatively recently.
